Audrey 2 month check up

I cannot believe we have a 10 week old – how is this possible?! Anyway, it’s true and she just had her two month check up. Here are the stats:
Weight – 11 pounds 4.5 oz
Height- 22.5 inches long
Both are around the 50% – our average little girl is still average! Other than growing, Audrey enjoys eating, sleeping, smiling, and watching Izzy run around. She especially smiles when she hears Izzy’s voice, it is very cute!
Izzy is now referring to herself in the first person. So everything is “Izzy hungry, Izzy tired, Izzy potty…..” It’s fun to be able to have almost normal conversations with her! She also loves to tell us what Audrey is doing. “Audrey eating, Audrey sleeping, Audrey not happy….”

Thoughts from sometime in March….

This past month has been a blur. Izzy potty trained in 3 days – something I was not planning to do, but she was obviously ready! Thanks Izzy for keeping us on our toes! Then we had to make a quick trip home to attend grandpa’s funeral. After a few days of connecting with family we were back and Beth was out for a visit. And later that week I was back to work – whew! These are just the highlights, but my head is still spinning. Audrey is doing well – learning how to sleep through the night and getting used to our chaotic life! She is now able to track with her eyes better and look around and enjoy the sights. She lights up when you smile at her and is starting the make the cutesy cooing noises babies are so good at. The girls are adapting well to having mommy gone and the babysitter’s here during the day. Izzy has her moments of needing extra mommy love, but overall she is handling all the changes really well.

This past weekend was amazing. Sunny and 70 = perfect. On Saturday, we broke out the double jogger and went to Green Lake for a 3 mile stroll. On Sunday, we put on the backpack and the moby and headed out to Discovery Park for a little hiking action. We are enjoying these lovely days in Seattle, there are so many wonderful places to explore!

Happy Birthday Izzy!

Today is Izzy’s 2nd birthday! I cannot believe that she is already 2 – how time flies! We celebrated with a party on Sunday with our new friends and family here in Seattle. Izzy enjoyed recieving her gifts and playing with balloons. I never knew how exciting balloons could be! In the last two years, Izzy has been a joy and blessing in our lives. I cannot imagine life without her and I am not sure what we did before she became part of our family. Her vocabulary continues to grow every day and she is speaking mostly in short fragments/sentences. Our next endeavor will be potty training – if I ever remember to start!

Earlier this week we had a follow up visit with the children’s hospital here in Seattle and all continues to look great with Isabel’s head. We will continue to have yearly visits but they did not have any concerns at this time!

2 week check up

It’s hard to believe that Audrey is alreay two weeks old – time is just flying by! So far she has mastered eating, sleeping, and pooping. We are very proud parents! Today we went to the doctor for her two week check up and I must agree with the doctor, who states, ‘she is just perfect!’. She is an average girl, with her height and weight right at 50%. She now is 21 inches and 8 pounds 7.5 ounces. We have enjoyed the visits of our parents over the last two weeks, however, I think Izzy has enjoyed it more! So far she has adjusted well to all of the changes, but time will tell! We will be adding more pictures soon!

Hey all — just a quick post from the childbirth center at Swedish Ballard: Aurdrey Lynn Jensen was born on February 5th at 1:06pm, weighing in at 7lbs 13oz, and just a shade over 20 inches long. Both Audrey, and Janelle are doing great — Janelle especially, considering that Isabel’s birth was pretty difficult and drawn out and that Audrey basically arrived yesterday after about 15 minutes of pushing (only 4 or 5 series of contractions)!

I’m sure there will be more to follow shortly, once we get home and settled. For now, there are new photos posted to Flickr, so that you can enjoy the new addition!

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and love sent our way throughout the last few weeks, and especially these past days.

It just occured to me that I have not written anything for months. Not for a lack of things to write about, but more just being lazy. I often think about what I want to share and then before you know it, two months have passed. Hopefully I can remember some highlights…..

We have survived our first quarter at Seattle Pacific…whew! What a whirlwind. Brian’s job continues to keep him busy from sun up to sun down. Despite what he may feel, he is doing a great job of learning a new, fast paced job while maintaining a life with his family! My job continues to go smoothly and I am enjoying the company of my friends at work. Izzy loves her nannies as they give her unconditional love and attention!

Christmas was spent in Seattle as the Adams clan made their way west. We were all able to enjoy a few days together in a nearby town along the Puget Sound. It was great to not have to travel this year and still be able to see loved ones. Thank you mom and dad for making it all happen!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of new baby girl Jensen. Our official due date is Feb. 11, but we all believe it will be sooner. Brian has bets that it will be tonight, so we will keep you posted! I have been having contractions sporadically for the last week and can tell it is coming soon, but I’m not about to guess when it will be exactly. I’m just hoping for before the 11th! We are hoping that Isabel will continue to enjoy her life as a ‘momma’ after the baby is actually here. All day long she cares for her baby dolls, so I’m hoping this is a good sign. However, I am trying to remain realistic that it could be a hard transition for her. We shall see!

She has quite the vocabulary and it continues to grow everyday as she repeats everything she hears. Hopefully the college students will not be teaching her too many new words! Her latest from this evening was ‘chill out’. Very cute! She is now a big fan of Elmo, Curious George, and the muppets and asks to watch them everyday or read one of her Elmo or Curious George books. She received a trike for Christmas and is barely able to touch the pedals, but she does enjoy sitting on it and pushing it along with her feet. We are awaiting the day that she disappears down the hall at full speed!

Hopefully we will have a baby update soon! Our friends in Beaver Falls, the other Jensen’s, just had their baby girl, Zoe last night! We are so excited for them and hope their transition to two kids goes smoothly. I was able to speak to Sara today and I’m hoping my body will take the hint and get to work! I also had a massage today by a lady who specializes in prenatal massage, so maybe that will also help!

Fall fun in Seattle

It’s been a while since I last updated our blog, but it’s because we have been having so much fun this Fall. Also, because we are extremely busy! Going back to work definitely fills my day and leaves me exhausted at night. Many times I feel ready to go to bed when Izzy does. As my belly keeps getting bigger, my ability to sleep dwindles. I guess it’s just preparation for what is to come with a newborn! Brian’s job has also kept him extremely busy the past two months. He had his first weekend free last week – it was weird to all be at home with no plans. Weird, but nice!

In the midst of our crazy lives, we flew home to MN for Michelle’s(Brian’s sister) wedding. It was good to be home and see familiar faces and to be able to spend time with family. The wedding was a lot of fun and we were so happy to be part of her big day. We love Jared very much and are excited to have him as part of the family. Izzy was the flower girl, however, did not like the idea of her parent’s walking down the aisle without her. So, we scooped her up and we all walked down together! She was still cute and we were just happy that she was able to sit through the ceremony with Grandma and Grandpa without making a peep!

The next weekend, we had the Emerson Hall retreat at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island. Although we were still recovering from the MN trip, it turned out to be a fun weekend with the students. The weather was perfect and it was fun to explore another part of the greater Seattle area.

It has been a beautiful Fall in Seattle. The last two weeks were full of sunshine and lots of walking down by the canal. The leaves are mostly still on the trees, but the colors have been awesome for a while now. Apparently, Fall lasts longer out here – we love it! As I am writing, however, the rain has started and is supposed to be around for a few days. I guess we are heading into the rainy season, so it may last more than a few days.

Izzy continues to grow and thrive in our new surroundings. She will repeat everything we say and seems older every day. She loves playing with her doll, pretending to care for it by changing diapers and feeding it on a regular basis. She has also become attached to purses. The other day she was carrying around 4 purses, while proceeding to the door and saying, ‘bye’! It is very cute. Trying on mommy’s shoes is another hobby she has recently started. She is very much a girly girl right now…I’m hoping it’s just a phase!

We are planning to stay in Seattle for the holiday’s this year, so if any of you are traveling this direction to visit family, please let us know! We would love to see you! I think that’s about it for updates. Hope you are all enjoying the Fall season!

Moving on to new things

As some of you already know, we have decided that it was time for me to go back to work. This came with mixed emotions from both of us, but in the end, we agreed it was the best thing to do. So two weeks after making this decision and applying for a couple of jobs on campus, I have already started this new adventure! It was the fastest hiring process I have ever experienced. I am the Program Coordinator for the Psychology Department. What does this mean, you ask. Well, it is a lot of things including answering questions for current and prospective students, assisting students with advising, helping faculty with various projects, working with the chair of the department on projects and events, and supervising all of the student workers for the department. I am very excited and think that it will be a good fit for me! It is 32 hours a week and they are very flexible and family friendly, which is a huge plus. Also, the office is right across the street from our apartment! A friend of ours is watching Izzy until we find some students or get into the daycare we like. So far, so good!

Also, today Izzy had her 18 month check up and here are the latest stats:

Height: 33 3/4 (95%)

Weight: 26 lbs (80%)

We enjoyed the new doctor’s office and suffered through a few shots! Her latest and greatest achievements include counting to two, repeating everything we say, giving hugs and kisses to baby Nolan (the other RLC’s new baby), running and trying not to fall – so far only one boo boo, and enjoying that the students are coming back and they all love her!

Fun weekend with Grandma!

Thanks for the visit Grandma Adams! This past weekend, Grandma Adams came out to our new place in Seattle for a little visit. We were able to visit family and friends that I haven’t seen in years, which was a lot of fun! Isabel greatly enjoyed having someone to play with and I think she will be going through withdrawal for a couple of days. Every morning she would wake up and ask for grandma and scream in delight when she would see her! It was very loud, but cute.

Brian is still in the midst of training and will be for the next two weeks. Classes don’t start until the last week of September! He is enjoying his job despite feeling overwhelmed at times with all that needs to be done. We are feeling settled into our new place and new city. Seattle has been a great city to live in so far!

On the baby front, I am currently 18.5 weeks along and we will find out what we are having on the 25th of the month! I am feeling very pregnant all of a sudden and you can definitely tell there’s a baby in there. It moves around a lot already and Brian was able to feel it the other day. It’s so weird how much earlier things happen with the second child than they did with Izzy. We will keep you posted on how things are coming along!
